Sometimes, when you realize how freezing winter really is, all you need is some good hot cocoa, and a warm fire. I love hot cocoa, but sometimes plain chocolate... is just too plain. So i've decided to show you one of my favorite ways to spice up your hot cocoa without having to buy a flavored mix.
First: Make normal chocolate hot cocoa.
As you can see, i made it in a Tim Hortons mug that my canadian friend sent me :D
Second: Slice a cutie or almost any other orange and score the flesh of the fruit. I used a cutie that I had laying around from the holidays. Easy to use, but harder to squeeze because the fruit wanted to come out of the peel.
Next, squeeze it into your hot cocoa. I did not measure how much I did, I just squeezed until i couldn't get any more out of it, then tasted it to make sure it was okay. I put in the perfect amount. Depending on your personal preference, squeeze more if you like it stronger, and squeeze less for just a hint.
Third: Put in a Half a teaspoon of cinnamon, and about a half a teaspoon of Vanilla Extract. (I used imitation vanilla, but whatever works for you is great!)
After, blend well and embelish with marshmallows, sprinkles, and cream. Straws can be used also! ( I was lame, and didn't embelish mine for two reasons. Reason one, we don't have any marshmallows right now. and Two, I hate Marshmallows.) But i did add a straw!
Now, go sit by a fire, grab your favorite magazing, or book, grab a blanket, and Enjoy life :D
IMPORTANT LAST STEP: After you are finished, wrinse out your mug or else the remains of the hot cocoa will harden like cement. After you wrinse, put it in your dishwasher (Provided it isn't washing, or full of clean dishes) and show your mom who is boss. Yes, clean up after yourself. I promise i will make your life easier.
Warm wishes, and happy reading!
